The university vigorously promotes the HIT Spirit, which is characterized by: Patriotic spirit of remembering responsibilities and dedicating wholeheartedly; truth-seeking spirit of being pragmatic and respecting science; unity spirit of embracing diverse perspectives and collaborating on key challenges; and enterprising spirit of striving constantly for self-improvement and pursuing innovation. It also promotes the spirit of HIT's Eight Hundred Heroes, who kept in mind the nation's great trust, shouldered arduous missions, took root in Northeast China, worked hard under tough conditions, strove with dedication, and devoted their entire lives to the industrialization of New China. Through these efforts, the university has built a high-quality faculty team, which has laid a solid talent foundation for the university to build a world-class university with Chinese characteristics.
